Watching God

“Watching God” was one of a 7 piece series called Black History is Beautiful. They were first displayed at Nashville Public Library Hermitage Branch in February 2018 and then Abrasive Media Art in 2019.
This is a portrait of Zora Neale Hurston, who is one of my favorite authors. The title of the painting comes from the title of her book “Their Eyes Were Watching God” It symbolizes rising above the troubled times by changing your focus to a higher source.
If you like this painting it will soon be available to be checked out at the upcoming Art WORKS Lending Library collection a partnership with Metro Arts and the Nashville Public Library.
