Core Essence Art Show

First solo Art Show at Abrasive Media Art. February and March Art Crawl.

The Core Essence is what is revealed after a woman transcends the dark night of the soul. Her core essences is revealed and she becomes more aware of who she is. Astrology and mythology was part of the inspiration for this series. Each planet represents a specific energy or aspect of personality that may be discovered. The goddess women represent the idea of self acceptance and mastery.

This is free event will be held during the Wedgewood Houston Art Crawl on Saturday, February 2nd from 6-9pm at 438 Houston Street STE 257, Nashville, TN 37203.

Artist Statement

Core Essence, is a series of paintings that symbolize the embodiment of different energies to empowers one to move forward in life. This series was inspired by a photograph and my interest in astrology. The photo depicted a woman sitting on the ground with an exasperated facial expression. I imagined this woman sitting on top of the planet Earth. Mother Earth was the first painting of the series. In astrology the Earth represents the basic beginnings and foundation of an earthly mission. The Earth element is about manifestation, practicality, and fertility. The planets suspended in black matter represent the dark night of the soul which is a moment in life when one feels like they are emotionally surrounded by darkness. The only light that can be found is from within. Over time, inner light is perceived by the person emulating it. The planets represent energy and light that is created during this time. This energy illuminates’ aspects of personality that were previously unnoticed. Each aspect helps the person navigate through the emotional darkness. Instead of looking for light outside themselves, one realizes they are light. They realize their source of strength and they emerge as a more powerful being.
